Who are We Accountable to and What are We Responsible For?
I am about to give you the Truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, the answer is you and no one but you. We spend a great deal of our life evaluating our life by comparing it to others and what they have or don’t have, what they say or don’t say and how they behave and don’t behave. This is how we are taught and how we learn, it is only natural that we develop a proclivity for judging others as human beings are developed through the process of judgment and comparison. We have no way of knowing how well we are doing if we do not have something or someone to compare us to. In the esoteric teachings of the development of the soul we refer to this as duality or the world of Maya (illusion). The self cannot experience who it is and determine its purpose without a point of reflection. The reflection gives us awareness and realization. But until the self becomes aware of the bigger Self, these judgments and realizations are grounded in a misperception of who the reflection is and why the reflection is there.
The truth is everything in your life is from God and the purpose of this life we live is to realize and become aware of God within us or that part of God that is us, the True Self. If we cannot experience the world around us and all the pairs of opposites in our life, then how can we truly experience the self within? We cannot know real happiness, contentment and love if we have not experienced the pain and suffering of anger, resentment and hate. We cannot appreciate a truly magnificent piece of art until we have been exposed to a lot of art. We cannot experience wisdom without folly, joy without sadness. Do you get the picture?
We call this comparison of the pairs of opposites the transmutation of life’s experiences into wisdom and we do it by reflecting upon our experiences in an effort to understand the causal principle of the event which always lies within us, not outside of us. Even though there may be two or more people involved in a situation in your life, you can only hold yourself accountable for your actions and be responsible for your role in the outcome of an event. To point the finger at others and cast blame and aspersions upon them creates separation. Now that does not mean that they are not in some way responsible or accountable, but that is for them to figure out for their growth.
Recently several students have gone through relationship issues where the other partner treated them poorly from the perspective of their reflection in their mirror. I counsel them to only focus on why they attracted this relationship into their lives and what subconscious pattern is playing out. Understanding that each event is a gift from God helps you to mine for the gold in the situation to liberate yourself from the pattern. Now this is hard to comprehend when you are feeling pain and looking through the lens of the world of illusion, but it is critical to step back and gain a wider perspective of the reflection and look closely at you in the picture. Do this enough and the reasons will be revealed to you.
Remember that the rational mind is a tool of lower consciousness and only justifies what you desire; it is not the tool of higher consciousness that we call reason. So its goal will be to make you feel justified in your anger, resentment and hate whilst in pain. But the pain that you are feeling is really the pattern being separated from your True Self and being pushed away. Anytime we have had a pattern as part of us for a very long time, it hurts when it separates, we even go as far as to grieve its departure, it is the reason why so frequently we backfill by jumping into a new situation that ends up delivering the same result. You must understand what brought the event in if you are to change the result. And let us not forget the fact that change is an uncomfortable feeling for most of us. Embrace that feeling.
When we look at it as someone else’s fault or exclaim about the pain this person caused you, you are only delaying your own healing and eventual evolution into the spiritual being that you truly are. So look at the pain in your life and the chaos and ask “what have I done to attract this event in” or “what is God, the Light, trying to point out to me”, you will achieve a much healthier response and result. Soon your life will begin to flow more easily because of looking within.
Have a beautiful Light filled week!
